LOL sorry I know this isn’t a blog I use to ~blog~, but I am annoyed so w/e.

Things I have seen the least shitty of MRA/Masculist/Whatever blogs discuss as being Men’s Issues of Import:

Men being the majority of people in prison
Men being the victims of violent crime
Men getting raped
Male veteran’s issues
Male homelessness
Male suicide
Male victims of domestic abuse

Things that I agree are issues of import:

All of that!

And yet when I say discuss as issues of import, what I mean is I have seen these blogs make posts that yell at feminist in general for not caring about those issues, talking about them, etc. What I mean is I have never seen them never link to anything or talk about actual steps to help (unless it’s about dude’s getting custody of kids!). What I mean is I have never seen these blogs discuss the ways in which men in prison=men of color in prison, things that can actually be done to help, etc, etc. It’s all valid points that they apparently want to actually do NOTHING about other than point gain.

Meanwhile, things I have personally seen on feminist-leaning blogs, discussed with feminists IRL, and been linked to BY FEMINISTS:

Posts about how men are the victims of rape and how that’s a part of rape culture
Posts about veterans
Posts about how men of color are targeted by the police
Posts about how DV shelters, which are shitty to a lot of people (I see you trans women!) and what can be done about that

And, like, a whole lot about prison abolition, really. Like, have you heard of this little known feminist, ANGELA FUCKING DAVIS? It’s kind of all she talks about? I know that’s so easy to miss in the world, when it’s one of the primary issues you care about and everything.

I mean, honestly, just this week I sat around with ~feminist~ friends, reading letters they got from their prison penpals, talking about things we could do to support prisoners! Something I have never seen a single MRA/Masculist mention about one of their PRIMARY ISSUES.

Like, honestly, I don’t hate the MRAs/Masculists really, I just think y’all are kind of bullshit? Talking, not walking, etc? But I think a lot of the Tumblr feminists you spend time fighting are kind of bullshit too? It would just make me feel better if I ever saw you do anything about the issues you care so very much about than yell that feminists don’t do anything? SAME GOES FOR YOU, FEMINISTS.

I mean, LBR, I don’t spend a lot of time reading yr blogs and, sure, perhaps I missed all those times you mentioned Black and Pink! But you also don’t seem to spend time with feminists who aren’t early 20s bbs on Tumblr, so we’ll call it even as long as you donate some fucking money to some actual fucking causes that will get shit done already.

A friend of mine is braving through a pretty intense mental health (+ everything else) crisis right now and I have been using her time in the hospital to give her apartment a much-needed cleaning. Several people have tried (including myself) over the last few years but, like most hoarders, she becomes very upset and overcome with fear about it.

The number of amazing things she loves, in such an array of conditions, and how important I know it is to pay attention to almost everything, is exhausting. I’m planning on breaking the news to her that she should think of it as if her house was ON FIRE, but I had a magical suit that let me rescue some of her most important things, and the rest just burned down. I love her so much, it has not been much of a challenge keeping her in my mind and my eyes and making good decisions. I have only enlisted the most trusted CERTIFIED NINETIES SPECIALISTS to help.

Not surprisingly, there is TONS of immaculately preserved and devastatingly cool shit in there. Including several boxes STUFFED with crisp, flat unblemished zines from her years as a teenage zine catalog/distro maven. I knew she had them, but I had NO idea they remained in this saint-like condition.

Several of these are accompanied by letters from the authors w/ info for her price/info list and they often have taped pieces of paper with her own “card catalog” entries on them!!!! Eye candy.

All of these are mid - late 90’s, all with content that we’re still rolling around on tumblr today. Even her boyfriend (a dollbaby who has never even heard of a “zine” and enjoys sports) commented upon seeing “Suzy’s Self-Injury Zine” — “WOW, so this is like tumblr.”

I’m hesitant to publicly divulge detailed info about this person or name her without her permission, but she is a vibrant wonderful genius who is going to be facing a lot of challenges. I hope you enjoy these pics and it is likely people will happen upon these that know exactly who I am talking about — and need no testament from me of how bodaciously precious she is.
